Description
Wading Willet by HH Photography of Florida
A solitary Willet (Tringa semipalmata) wades in the crystal clear waters along the beach on a cool autumn afternoon. The gorgeous Gulf waters sparkle and shimmer in the waning late day light. The Willet’s conservation status is presently ‘Least Concerned’ but it is felt to be a threatened species at risk of becoming endangered due to habitat loss from housing development and the draining of wetlands for agricultural purposes. Photographed from the shores of the Florida Gulf coast.
