Pina Coladas On The Tree by HH Photography of Florida.
Looking up at the underside of a beautiful Florida Coconut Palm tree (Cocos nucifera) and the delicious fruit that grows there. Coconuts are a widely popular fruit and essentially, every part of the coconut can be used in some manner from cosmetics to food to timber, fuel and livestock feed, to name a few. The coconut is often referred to as the “tree of life” in some cultures and the word coconut comes from the Portuguese “coco” which translated means skull or head.
Coconut palm trees require warm temperatures, abundant sunshine and copious amounts of water to thrive so Florida is an ideal environment. If you take a drive around central and south Florida, you’re likely to often find coconut palms in city landscapes and private yards. A word of caution ... beware of falling coconuts. Don’t stand “under” a coconut palm or you could get bonked on the head. Ouch!!! Anyone for a pina colada?
