Description
Preening Great Egret by HH Photography of Florida.
A preening Great Egret (Ardea alba) shows off it's gorgeous, backlit feathers in the late afternoon Florida sunlight. The Great Egret's beautiful white plumage always reminds me of angel's wings. The ritual of preening will be repeated many, many times throughout the day. Great Egrets are an abundant species in the Sunshine State and are often seen fishing along the beaches, around lakes and ponds or stalking the bushes and flora throughout the state.

They always remind me of angel wings too, John, especially when landing or preening. Thanks for stopping by and for the comment and l/f. Much appreciated.

Wonderful B&W capture, Helen! For a moment it somehow reminded me of John Travolta's wings. l/f
