If you want to step back in time to another era, be sure to stop by the family-owned and operated Shake Pit restaurant in Bradenton, Florida ... a local landmark and treasure since 1959. The Shake Pit is an extremely popular fast food/burger joint for locals and out of towners alike. The delicious burgers, crinkle cut fries (cooked to perfection) onion rings, chili dogs and more, are the best you’ll find anywhere. And, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, this is definitely the place for you. Yummy malts, milkshakes, sundaes, banana splits (to die for) soft serve and hard pack ice cream are among some of the sweet treat offerings.
The Shake Pit has a retro feel reminiscent of the 50’s and 60’s with a walk-up order window and outdoor picnic table style seating to relax and enjoy the fare. There is also a small counter indoors with swivel stools and seating for only 6 or 8. Located on Manatee Avenue West, it’s often a quick stop on your way to or from the beach and an after school hangout for local highschoolers. Many folks have been coming here since they were kids themselves and now they bring their own kids. If you’re in the Bradenton area, be sure to stop by and check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
