An old wooden staircase is seen on the side of an abandoned red brick building in downtown Franklin, NC. Weeds and other flora are slowly overtaking the aging stairway and the vine-covered, black wrought iron fence. The ravages of time and the elements have come to this abandoned urban structure here in the heart of Appalachia.
