Historic Train Depot by HH Photography of Florida.

Completed here in the early 1920’s, Atlantic Coast Line passenger train service stopped running to Bradenton, Florida, many years ago. ACL merged with Seaboard Coast Line in 1967 and continued passenger service until 1971 when Amtrak took over passenger operations. The old depot shown here, was later purchased and restored by a local doctor and is used for his office on Manatee Avenue West at the southern terminus of the river trestle. The trackage remains in use to this day and serves Tropicana’s “Juice Train” which makes several runs each day back and forth to Tampa and points north. I would love to see the railroad and its passenger service returned to the thriving entity it once was. A painterly effect has been applied to my original photograph for an artistic presentation.
