Description
The soft morning light is just beginning to illuminate the surroundings and shine on this beautiful shore bird with the rusty reddish-brown and white plumage and orange legs, as he makes his way along the seawall looking for breakfast. The Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres) is a colorful little bird all of the time but even more impressive during the breeding season when it takes on a gorgeous harlequin face pattern. Often seen during the winter months along the shore, turning over stones or foraging in the seaweed along the Florida coast, this bird is a welcome sight in the Sunshine State's environment.
