Memories of Ages Past by HH Photography of Florida.
Nestled in the highlands of western North Carolina, this old, abandoned homestead stands silently alone, while time, neglect and the elements slowly turns it to ruins. When I see places like this, it makes me wonder what circumstances led to the abandonment of what was once a beautiful home for some family with unknown hopes and dreams.
I can imagine children playing in the yard or swinging from a rope swing while Dad sits on his John Deere, cutting the grass to roll hay for the coming winter's feed for the animals. In the chill afternoon air, aromas of Mom's apple pies baking in the oven waft through an open kitchen window and mix with the smell of burning leaves from a neighboring farm. This old farm may be abandoned but it's existence will be forever preserved and remembered in these treasured pictures. Also available in black and white.
