Description
Historic Bridge Street 2 by HH Photography of Florida.
An early morning sunrise at the historic Anna Maria Island landmark, the Bridge Street pier in Bradenton Beach, Florida. The original wooden bridge to connect the Manatee County mainland to the island was built in 1927. In 1967, the old bridge was replaced by a new concrete bridge a little to the north of Bridge Street, at which time the old bridge was retired and turned into a fishing pier with restaurant. The pier has been rebuilt many times over the years because of destruction by hurricanes and tropical storms. Bridge Street and the pier continue to attract fishermen, out of town visitors, vacationers and locals alike.

I really like the feeling in this shot - and your great personal story lets me understand what a great place this is, probably for many other people, like it is for you. v.

Beautiful capture Helen! I love the beach/ocean! I can imagine the excitement. Growing up we only got to visit the coast every 18 months which took us 2 days travelling to get there as I am from a landlocked country. I can remember the excitement of the first glimpse of the sea. Later on I had the pleasure of spending 4 years in Durban, South Africa. L/F

Thank you Tessa. :) Those memories from our childhood can be some of the best and lucky you to have lived in South Africa. I've only ever heard how beautiful it is there.
