Great Horned Owl by HH Photography of Florida.
Because owls are mostly nocturnal animals, this Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) Mom was catching a few winks while keeping an ear tuned in to her 3 kids in a nearby tree. I was so fortunate to see this beautiful owl family as it was the first time I’d seen a Great Horned Owl in the wild.
Great Horned Owls are also known as Tiger Owls or Hoot Owls. The eyes of this species are among the largest and most powerfully acute in the animal kingdom. Presented with a textured background for artistic creativity. Photographed in west central Florida.
