Local commercial fishing boats are tied up at the docks at the end of the day here in Cortez, a quaint, scenic fishing village on the Florida Gulf coast. Cortez in one of only a handful of such historic fishing villages remaining in Florida and is one of the oldest in the country. The proud ancestors of the original founding fathers continue to work and practice their trade in Cortez.
