In Greek mythology, Elysian Fields was a heavenly afterlife paradise where heroic souls who had been bestowed immortality by the gods were sent ... a land of perfect happiness. Although no place on Earth is blessed with total perfection or happiness, Florida and the incredible abundance of beauty found here must be a glimpse of what the gods had in mind when they dreamed of Elysian Fields.

This scenic waterscape looks out over the Gulf of Mexico from the shores of Anna Maria Island. In the distance beyond Beer Can Island, towering thunderstorms with tops lit by the setting sun, spill their rain over the Gulf waters as the end of the day draws near. A boater can be seen in Longboat Pass, heading for shore before dark. A painterly effect has been applied for an artistic presentation.
