Description
A view of the twisted, gnarled roots of the seagrape (Coccoloba uvifera) and red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle) trees along the sandy coastline of a secluded beach on Tampa Bay, Florida. Both the sea grape plant and the mangrove tree are a frequent and familiar sight in the Florida landscape, especially along coastal and saltwater habitats. Both are used to help prevent coastal erosion and the mangrove is extremely important to the health of our estuarine environment. Photographed on Tampa Bay, Florida. Interesting botany lesson! I don't suppose the grapes are edible?
HH Photography of Florida replied:
Thank you, Kathryn. As a matter of fact, yes they are very edible ... right off the tree or in jellies and jams. The birds love them too. :)
