A beautiful Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis) sunning himself in the warm afternoon light. A familiar sight in the Florida landscape, the Brown Pelican is such a wonderful part of our surroundings and an often photographed bird by visitors and locals alike. They can be found frequenting the piers or docks or anywhere fishermen are cleaning their catch. Personally, I love to watch them diving for their own catch in the local waters of the Gulf of Mexico or in the many bays and inlets in the area.
