Anhinga Feather Display by HH Photography of Florida.
This is a back view of a lone Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga) seen standing on a wooden piling on the Intracoastal Waterway. The Anhinga has been fishing in the local waters and has landed on this post to spread it’s wings and dry off in the afternoon sun. Anhinga’s feathers are not oiled as most other birds, and thus, must dry it’s feathers before it can fly. Photographed on the Florida Gulf coast.
