Description
During my travels one morning, I came across these two Eastern Gray Squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) playing on the beach. They were ripping and raring, chasing each other up and down and around the trees and stopping every now and then to share a tender moment. As I watched these two, I was struck by how human-like some of their antics were. This is 1 of 3 of those moments.
In this photo, the squirrels were playing chase and obviously one caught the other and was holding on tight.

They were most likely a pair courting and mating. I've watched this kind of behavior before and that's what it generally led to.
