The Pier, an iconic landmark located on the downtown waterfront in St. Petersburg, Florida, is - no longer. Demolition of The Pier began in 2015 so that a replacement could be built for the aging and decaying structure. It took months and months of lengthy discussions, various design changes and votes for all of those involved to choose a replacement design but the choice has finally been made. Although the beloved, familiar, inverted pyramid shaped building is now a part of our past, it will never be forgotten in our collective memory of downtown St. Petersburg. Seen and photographed looking through the palm trees and across the bayou.
