A Love Offering by HH Photography of Florida.
Two beautiful Great Blue Herons (Ardea herodias) stand atop the mangroves in this heartwarming scene. The male has returned to the site where nest building is taking place and is shown presenting an Australian Pine branch to his mate to assist in making a home for their babies that will soon arrive. It's the male of the species that picks out the nesting site each season and then fetches all of the material needed to build the nest. It's such a joy to watch this beautiful yearly ritual. Photographed on the Florida west coast.~
